Lehman Brothers law firm seeks $55 million in fees

More bad news for Lehmann Brothers Holdings, which has been billed $55 million from its lawyer Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP for the four and a half months after the bank filed bankruptcy in September. Weil partner Harvey Miller lead the New York firm’s representation, in which partners and other senior lawyers at Weil billed 29,398 hours from 15 September 2008 to 31 January, for which the firm is seeking $24.2 million, Bloomberg reports. The firm billed more than 100,000 hours on the bankruptcy itself, the largest ever filed, with $613 billion in debts.

SJ Berwin ditches Euro brand

SJ Berwin has reinforced its position as an international firm with the opening of a Dubai office less than a month after launching one in Hong Kong. The move sees the firm stray from its previous Europe-centric position, and will involve London-based litigation partner Tim Taylor and Paris-based corporate partner Benjamin Aller relocate to Dubai.

Madoff’s Mets tickets to sell on eBay

He’s already lost several homes, his yacht and his freedom, and now Bernard Madoff, who has admitted to a $65 billion investment fraud, is set to lose an $80,000 pair of seasons tickets to the New York Mets. Lawyers representing victims of the New York conman’s Ponzi scheme are planning to sell the tickets on eBay to raise money for a compensation fund.
