THE CURRENT chairperson of the National Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Council (NADRAC) has been reappointed for the next three years.
“Over the first three years of [Kellam’s] time as chairperson, the Council has provided advice to me on many issues including family law reforms, indigenous dispute resolution and conflict management, and on legislating for alternative dispute resolution,” Attorney-General Philip Ruddock said.
“[Kellam’s] depth of experience in alternative dispute resolution has been of great value to the Council during his three years as chairperson and I am delighted that he will continue in this important role.”
NADRAC is an independent body that advises the Attorney-General on the effective methods of dispute resolution that do not require judicial decisions. Following its research forum on ADR in 2005, NADRAC will conduct another in July this year.
Ruddock said the Council’s charter was expanded last October “to include the provision of advice on the use of [ADR] in criminal law and to increase its focus on promoting the use of [ADR]”.
