When Folklaw has some downtime in work, we enjoy nothing more than cruising the internet to have a giggle at funny law firm names.

Dewey, Cheatham & Howe, and Ditcher, Quick & Hyde (Divorce Lawyers) are two hilarious, often-cited, but unfortunately fake, law firm names.

However, as with many things in life, the truth is often stranger than fiction, and there is no need to turn to fiction to find law firm names that provide a giggle.

A new favourite Folklaw recently discovered was Oman-based Mohammed Ibrahim Law Firm – or MILF for short. Folklaw would imagine the owners of this law firm probably don’t know what else MILF is used as an abbreviation for...  

Another 100 per cent-real corker we found lately was US-based Dumas & McPhail; very fine attorneys we’re sure but not a name that inspires confidence.

And because Folklaw isn’t the most mature person in the Lawyers Weekly office, another US-based firm, Michigan’s Weiner & Cox Attorneys-At-Law, also managed to raise a smile...

So let that be a lesson folks; it you’re thinking of opening a law firm, be aware of the awkward names of any potential partners. And if you have an unfortunate surname yourself, maybe consider changing it...
