LAWYERS ACROSS Australia were this month handed accolades from Her Majesty for their various achievements and contributions to the profession, as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Miles was served as chief executive and national managing partner from 1991 to 1997. He held other notable positions such as the chair for the 2000 National Innovation Summit, which led to a report to the Prime Minister entitled Innovation — Unlocking the Future. Miles was also former president of the Law Council of Australia and the Law Institute of Victoria.
The honour was given to Miles in recognition for his service to the community through support for Australian innovation and research, to public policy development in the areas of trade, taxation and international relations, and to the legal profession.
Darvall, who was managing partner of the Corrs Melbourne office from 1995 to 1998, was also a member of the firm’s board. Currently Darvall is the chairman of the Melbourne University Law School Foundation.
Darvall was recognised for his service to the legal profession, sustainable urban and transport infrastructure development in Victoria.
“We congratulate [Miles] and [Darvall] on their prestigious honours,” current CEO John Denton, said. “[Miles] and [Darvall] are two exceptionally talented men who have contributed so much to public life and to Corrs’ continued growth”.
