Costas Condoleon (pictured) is set to join the Takeovers Panel, a peer review body comprised of part-time members appointed from the active members of Australia’s takeovers and business communities, which determines disputes via a focus on commercial and policy issues.

Condoleon is, G+T said in a statement, widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading strategic M&A and securities lawyers, having recently advised Sigma Healthcare on its $32 billion merger with Chemist Warehouse, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking on its $1.2 billion acquisition of Link Group, SG Fleet on its proposed $1.4 billion public to private by Pacific Equity Partners and Domain Holdings Australia on CoStar Group’s $2.65 billion unsolicited take private proposal.

His appointment is for three years, commencing 8 March 2025.

Speaking about his new role, Condoleon said: “The Takeovers Panel plays a crucial role in setting policy and resolving disputes in control transactions affecting widely held Australian entities and is crucial to preserving and protecting the integrity of our market.

“I am honoured to join many leading members of Australia’s takeovers and business communities as a panel member.”

Fellow G+T partner Karen Evans-Cullen was a member of the Takeovers Panel from 2014 to 2023.

With the appointment of Condoleon – alongside three other new members, and the reappointment of 14 members, plus the president’s reappointment – the panel now has 52 members, all of whom are appointed on a parttime basis, Takeovers Panel chief executive Allan Bulman said.
