She is currently serving her third term as a deputy public interest monitor (PIM), having first been appointed to the role in 2016. Prior to this, she was a managing lawyer at IBAC and, before that, at the Office of Police Integrity.
Ms Elliott was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia in 2005.
According to the Victorian Attorney-General’s Department, Ms Elliott’s appointment follows a thorough recruitment process, including consideration by Parliament’s integrity and oversight committee.
Speaking about the appointment, Victorian A-G Jaclyn Symes said: “I warmly congratulate Ms Elliott on her appointment. She has extensive legal experience and a unique knowledge of the integrity sector – making her the right candidate to lead IBAC.
“I give my sincere thanks to Stephen Farrow for overseeing IBAC through this transition period and continuing to provide sound judgement and leadership.”
Ms Elliott will start a five-year term as IBAC commissioner on 16 December 2023.
