NSW A-G Mark Speakman on defamation law reform
The Honourable Mark Speakman SC MP, Attorney-General of NSW, returns to the show to discuss sweeping reforms to defamation law in numerous Australian jurisdictions, their intended impact, and how he led the charge in enacting change.
On this episode of The Lawyers Weekly Show, host Jerome Doraisamy speaks with Mr Speakman about why reform to defamation laws in the states and territories was necessary, what the reforms are for a majority of the population, and what they hope to achieve.
The pair also talk about reform in other areas of law that Mr Speakman is turning his attention to and how he spearheaded the defamation reforms in consultation with other attorneys-general around the country.
