Norton Rose Group has today (5 October) announced that Canadian law firm Macleod Dixon will join Norton Rose Group on 1 January 2012.

As a result of the merger, Norton Rose Group will add 60 lawyers in Latin America (based in Caracas, Venezuela and Bogota, Colombia), a 13-lawyer office in Almaty, Kazakhstan and a team of lawyers in Moscow.

With close to 700 lawyers now in Canada, Norton Rose's Canadian operations will be known as Norton Rose Canada from 1 January 2012.

John Coleman will continue as managing partner of Norton Rose Canada, while the managing partner of Macleod Dixon, Bill Tuer, will join the executive committee of Norton Rose Group.

"The merger delivers real strength in energy and mining in Canada, as well as in emerging markets such as Latin America and Central Asia," said Norton Rose Group chief executive Peter Martyr.
