Gadens Lawyers is helping female law students gain advocacy experience through a women's only mooting competition.
USYD law student and convenor of the tournament, Katia Contos, believes it is important not only to recognise gender inequality but to practically address it within senior levels of the legal profession.
"This tournament strives to provide female law students with important advocacy experience to assist in reaching their professional aspirations," said Contos.
Gadens senior associate and member of the firm's Womens' Forum, Sally Weatherstone, said she was "delighted" by the response to the tournament from law students across Australia, with some teams travelling from Western Australia and Queensland to take part.
The first round of mooting begins on Wednesday and the final concludes this Friday.
The final will take place in court one of the Federal Court of Australia in Sydney, presided by the Honourable Justice Margaret Stone of the Federal Court.
