AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou will be the keynote speaker at a Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) lunch in Melbourne tomorrow (11 August).
In April, Demetriou secured a $1.25 billion TV rights deal for the AFL for the next five years. This was a windfall for the AFL, with the previous five-year deal being around $780 million.
More recently, Demetriou and the AFL have had to deal with player unrest within the AFL.
In late June, over 300 players met to discuss a new collective bargaining agreement with the AFL. The players want to see their share of the AFL's revenue increase from its present level of around 22 per cent to between 25 and 27 per cent.
Demetriou has come under fire in some quarters for his hard line stance on the issue, attracting criticism that his salary of close to $2 million is greater than that of any player in the AFL.
Demetriou is also expected to address topics such as change management, racial vilification and respect for women.
