The banking and finance lawyers that left Sparke Helmore to join Middletons in 2008 have moved back to their previous firm.

Sparke Helmore today (26 May) announced the appointment of two partners and four lawyers from Middletons, including returning partners Ben Burney and Adam Fuller as well as senior associate Maggie McGushin.

Also joining the Sparke Helmore team from Middletons are lawyers Andrew Johnston, Matthew O'Sullivan and Kate Stevens, along with paralegal Kylie Young.

In a statement today the firm cited "renewed activity by financial services clients" as the reason for the move.

"We're thrilled that Ben and Adam are returning to Sparkes and the timing couldn't be better," said Sparke Helmore national managing partner Jesse Webb.

"Ben and Adam are returning to a much stronger firm. With Richard Morrison, Michael Palfrey and Grant Parker now also with us, our commercial team is gaining real momentum."

McGushin, Johnston, O'Sullivan and Stevens are due to commence at Sparke Helmore on 30 May. However, the commencement date for partners Burney and Fuller is yet to be negotiated with Middletons.
