A former Freehills lawyer has earned Liberal Party pre-selection for the NSW seat of Vaucluse, beating a field that included the high profile restaurateur Peter Doyle.
Other candidates to stand included the Woollahra Mayor Andrew Petrie, deputy mayor and Gold's Gym Owner Peter Cavanagh and former Malcolm Turnbull staffer Anthony Orkin.
The Liberal Party currently holds Vaucluse with a margin of more than 16 per cent.
Upton replaces the current member for Vaucluse and former NSW Liberal Party leader, Peter Debnam, who is retiring at the next state election - due on 26 March next year.
Upton commenced her role at the AICD in 1999 following stints at Freehills, Hollingdale & Page and Phillips Fox. She has also spent time in New York working in finance at Deutsche Bank and the Toronto Dominion Bank.
The 45 year-old married mother of two has been a member of the Liberal Party for over ten years and is the current president of the Dover Heights branch.
