Legal Aid Queensland has launched a self-help guide to assist people affected by the natural disasters that struck the state earlier in the year.
"The guide provides a range of important information, including how to submit an insurance claim, understanding what your insurance policy covers, how to prove the cause of damage to your property, and what your options are if your insurance claim is refused," said Assistant Treasurer Bill Shorten.
In addition to the guide, Attorney-General Robert McClelland announced that community legal centres in Cairns, Townsville, Toowoomba and Rockhampton would receive additional funding on top of the $200,000 the Federal Government has already donated to legal services in Queensland to assist flood victims with legal advice.
The Insurance Council of Australia and Legal Aid Queensland have also donated $250,000 to assist flood and cyclone victims.
