Last night (19 August) a group of lawyers from Baker & McKenzie and Marque Lawyers took to the stage to participate in the Griffin Theatre Company's acting competition, Acting Up. Baker & McKenzie's Kate Muir, Andrew Stewart (seated) and Sebastian Busa performing at the Griffin Theatre
The courageous lawyers rehearsed an excerpt from an Australian play with a professional director and actor and delivered an evening performance on stage at the SBW Stables Theatre in front of a judging panel, including writer and actor Brendan Cowell.
"It has been very entertaining to see lawyers playing the role of actors and I am sure it would be even more interesting to reverse those roles - actors as lawyers," Cowell said.
Representing Baker & McKenzie was partner Andrew Stewart, senior associates Sebastian Busa and Erica Kidman and director of talent management, Kate Muir, performing a piece from Speaking in Tongues, by Andrew Bovell.
One of two teams from Marque Lawyers took home the trophy with their excerpt from "After Dinner".
