One of Australia's oldest intellectual property (IP) firms, Griffith Hack, has announced a merger with young Perth firm Mallon & Co.
Established in 2005, Mallon & Co specialises in technology and IP law, with numerous clients across the mining and resources, retail, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals and skincare sectors.
"We see this as a huge boost to our Perth practice, and our expansion into the IP law space," said Griffith Hack chairman Tony Ward.
"It's not just a good fit - it's a dovetail for both businesses, and one of benefit to our clients."
Paul Mallon, director of Mallon & Co, said the merger is also a positive venture for his organisation.
"We can still provide a dedicated local service to our important WA-based clients, but we're now supported by strong national infrastructure," he said.
"It actually strengthens our IP capability in WA, by being able to provide a broader range of IP services to our existing and future clients."
The merger means Griffith Hack's head count now stands at 30 principals and 61 fee-earners, with an employee base of 253 across its four offices.
