Sundance Resources' company secretary and general manager of corporate services John Carr-Gregg was killed in Saturday's plane crash in the Republic of Congo.
A former Allens Arthur Robinson (AAR) lawyer, Carr-Gregg had over 25 years of corporate and commercial experience including over 13 years' experience in the resources industry. Carr-Gregg had worked on exploration and mining projects in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, the Phillipines, Madagascar, New Zealand, Iran, the United States and Australia.
Before joining Sundance, Carr-Gregg was general manager company secretariat and commercial and company secretary at Aristocrat Leisure Limited and worked in private practice at a number of firms, including AAR where he worked from 1994 until 1997.
AAR chairman Ewen Crouch, who knew Carr-Gregg for more than 40 years, said he will be remembered as an intelligent, hard-working man.
"After John left the firm, he remained a valued client and friend of the firm," Crouch said. "He was in our Perth office only last week and those who worked with him both as a colleague and a client will miss him.
"John was an extremely well-liked colleague with a great sense of humour. He had a genuine interest in the law and a deep personal integrity. As a client, he was very supportive of younger lawyers and he always went out of his way to recognise a job well done. The firm sends its deepest sympathies to John's wife and family at this very sad time."
Sundance Resources released a statement advising that the company is recommencing the recovery operation today (22 June).
"Providing support to the families of all personnel on board remains the company's key focus along with the prompt recovery and repatriation of the deceased. Company management have personally notified the families of all Sundance personnel on board and offer its support to the families during this deeply distressing time," Sundance said in its statement.
