War veteran, Order of Australia Medal recipient and Hunt & Hunt partner, Ian Hunt, today celebrates 60 years since he was admitted onto the Roll of Solicitors by the Supreme Court of NSW in 1950.

60 years ago Hunt completed his law degree at the University of Sydney following a stint serving in the Royal Australian Air Force in Europe during World War Two. He undertook his articles with his father and co-founder of Hunt & Hunt, EA Hunt, and practised in the Sydney CBD for 23 years before opening a new surburban Hunt & Hunt office in 1973 (which has recently relocated to North Ryde). Today, Hunt & Hunt has over 100 lawyers, with officers in most Australian States and Territories, as well as in Shanghai.

Over his 60 year career, Hunt has made some significant contributions to the community, the Presbyterian Church of Australia and, later, the Uniting Church in Australia - achievements which have been recognised via the award of the Centenary Medal he received in 2001 and the Order of Australia Medal he received in 2002.

Hunt has served on numerous boards and committees including the Board of Burnside Homes, a large child welfare agency, and as founding director of the Asian Development Foundation. He is a former president of Rotary at Eastwood in Sydney and has also worked with the Royal Rehabilitation Centre in Sydney, the Foresight Foundation of the Deaf/Blind, the Australian Human Rights Foundation, Life After Prison (Inc), and the Ryde Business Forum.

Hunt is the last partner at Hunt & Hunt to have served in World War Two and indeed one of the last solicitors in Australia to have done so.
