This week’s poll told a similar story. When we asked readers whether their firm does enough for environmental sustainability, a whopping 44 per cent said that the only “green” the firm values is $100 notes. Another quarter of respondents said that while their firm has recycling bins, the company carpark is always full, suggesting that while the firm is making some effort, more could be done at both the firm and individual level. A further 21 per cent of respondents don’t really care one way or the other, saying that they don’t need fresh air because they have air-conditioning.
However every cloud has a silver lining. Ten per cent of respondents said that their firm gives Greenpeace a run for its money, suggesting that at least for some firms, environmental sustainability is more than just a catchcry.
