The future of the Adelaide Law Society President's Points of Law column was recently thrown into doubt, with The Advertiser threatening to axe the weekly column.
The Law Society received a fee for the column, which it has now waived for 12 months to secure its continued presence in the paper.
According to Goldberg, the proceeds of the fee were set aside for legal journalism awards.
Goldberg spoke out against the cancellation of the column in the latest edition of the Law Society Journal, describing it one of the "perks of office".
"It is an opportunity to express a considered view on a topic, admittedly legal or with a legal flavour," he said, "long may the column continue."
The first column was published on 13 February 1999 and discussed the confidentiality of jurors and what occurs in the jury room.
