Chris Monahan has been appointed the regional legal counsel, Asia-Pacific, of global engineering and environmental services firm URS.
His previous experience includes a career as a structural engineer, in which he worked on high-value private and public sector projects involving the design of commercial and municipal buildings.
URS Asia-Pacific managing director David Williamson said that Monahan will play a key role in overseeing the legal aspects of how the company is responding to economic conditions. "Clients are investing more time to detail the specific accountabilities of their professional services providers, to ensure projects are delivered in an environment where budgets are under scrutiny," he said. "Having experience across both disciplines means Chris brings invaluable insights as we seek to enhance and expand the expertise provided to our clients and consortium partners."
Outside the office, Monahan is a keen athlete, with a particular love of triathlons, surfing and kite-surfing. He's completed a number of endurance events, including the Vineman Ironman Triathlon. He's also a black belt in Wado Ki Kai karate.
