McInnes Wilson Lawyers has this week launched a 'liability clinic' in a bid to diagnose, measure and treat the rising risks of litigation on the firm's clients.
The clinic will comprise of professional indemnity and insurance partners alongside senior lawyers, who will meet frequently to exchange ideas, and produce free reports for clients on liability issues and trends.
McInnes professional indemnity partner, Mylton Burns said his clients are facing applicants in search of anyone perceived to have 'deep pockets'.
"Anyone required to have insurance, such as employers, drivers or owners of cars and professionals like valuers, engineers, financial advisors and accountants are prime targets for speculative or even vexatious litigation,' he said.
Burns added that by meeting frequently to brainstorm ideas, the firm can draw on its experience with professional indemnity cases to offer regular updates on litigation prevention mechanisms for clients.
