In-house legal specialist Georgina (Georgie) Gane (pictured) and international attorney and Law Ninjas founder Rohan Bilimoria (pictured) have been appointed to recently created roles to support and expand the international law firm’s initiative, Law Squared as a Service (LSaaS).

The NewLaw firm has stated these newly created positions “underscore the firm’s commitment to growth and the increasing demand from general counsel (GC) for Law Squared’s innovative and human-centred legal engagement models”.

Gane has joined Law Squared as the firm’s LSaaS coordinator.

She attended the University of Otago, based in New Zealand, where she graduated with a bachelor of law and arts in 2007.

With over 15 years of legal experience, Gane has held various titles at different firms. This included starting her career as a solicitor at Anderson Lloyda Lawyers, transitioning to an associate for Maddocks, then a legal counsel for MYOB, and a general counsel and company secretary for Pepperstone.

The Australian-founded firm stated that with Gane’s extensive experience, she would bring expertise in “advising boards and executive teams on general commercial law matters, contract negotiations, financial services regulation, privacy and cyber security issues, corporate governance, and risk management”.

The director and founder of Law Squared, Demetrio Zema, commented on the wisdom and expertise Gane will bring to the LSaaS initiative.

“Law Squared as a Service has grown from strength to strength as GCs search for true alternatives to the traditional secondee and contractor models or seek to navigate hiring freezes and a tight talent market.

“Georgie’s understanding of the cost certainty and flexibility needs of in-house counsel uniquely place her to take responsibility for this flagship solution, bridging legal expertise and commercial impact,” he stated.

Bilimoria has joined Law Squared as the firm’s global community development lead.

He graduated from UNSW with a bachelor of commerce and law in 2007.

Bilimoria has worked up the corporate ladder, starting his career as a paralegal for firms like Turtons Lawyers and Herbert Smith Freehills to becoming the founder of Law Ninjas, a global legal community platform that allows lawyers to foster relationships with other legal professionals and enhance their skills.

With an extensive career in the legal profession, he has had the opportunity to practice globally with the firm, outlining he has spent time at “Magic Circle and US law firms and Fortune 500 companies in London, Moscow, New Delhi, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo”.

Zema commented that Bilimoria’s appointment aligns with the firm’s dedication towards fostering and strengthening the services it provides to legal professionals globally.

“Rohan’s vision and energy have seen Law Ninjas become one of the fastest-growing professional networks for in-house counsel in the world.

“In this newly created role, Rohan will continue to champion Law Squared’s commitment to supporting and strengthening its community of in-house lawyers and ensure we continue to build a responsive, strategic professional service offering for the legal community in Australia, the UK and New Zealand,” he stated.

The news follows after the international law firm appointed Antonia Seriatos, Norm Afif, and Sarah Cooney as graduate lawyers following the success of their inaugural grad program in February 2024, hiring Kate Marshall as the chief legal officer at the end of October 2023, and the firm expanding to New Zealand in September 2023 and the United Kingdom in April 2022.
