Missed opportunity
Dear Lawyer2B,Firstly, I’d like to applaud your publication for providing students with helpful information and insight into the Australian legal profession. Each issue is quickly snapped up by
Dear Lawyer2B,
One of the main reasons Lawyer2B is popular with UQ law students is that it provides an alternative view on working in the law by interviewing recent graduates and young lawyers and discussing recent changes in the workplace. For most students, this information isn’t readily available and yet it plays such a pivotal role in helping them decide their future career path.
In Brisbane this year, our annual legal careers fair has been postponed until 2008 due to application dates being changed, and as a result, Queensland law students in 2007 won’t be getting the same face-to-face contact with firms that they had in previous years.
The importance of making contact at the careers fair is that the students gain a better understanding of the firm and its people than they normally would from the firm’s webpage.
The fantastic news, however, is that we are still working with firms to maintain their presence amongst the student body, and that the careers fair is set for next year. The information that Lawyer2B provides is more important than ever.
Thanks again,
