QUEENSLAND’S 21st Crown Solicitor, Conrad Lohe, has announced his retirement.

Lohe leaves the profession after 39 years, eight of which were spent as Crown Solicitor. During his time in the position he has advised the state government on many significant legal matters, including a claim made on behalf of former premier Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen, for compensation and legal costs arising out of the 1987 Fitzgerald Inquiry. He also advised the government with regard to constitutional reforms in the state, most notably the bills for The Constitution of Queensland Act 2001 and the Parliament of Queensland Act 2001. Lohe was presented with an Australia Day Achievement Medallion in 2006.

Lohe will finish up at Crown Law at the end of October, following the annual conference of Crown Solicitors in Tasmania.
