THE MINISTER for Housing, Tanya Plibersek, was among guests the Shopfront Legal Centre’s 15th anniversary celebration which was held at Freehills last week.
Speaking at the event, Plibersek said that she was pleased to be able to pay tribute to Shopfront’s significant achievements over the past 15 years. “Services like Shopfront demonstrate the importance of partnerships between the public sector, charities, Government and the local community to reduce homelessness,” she said.
Also speaking at the event was Shopfront principal and Freehills special counsel Jane Sanders, who was recently awarded the 2008 Justice Medal by the NSW Law and Justice Foundation for her efforts at the centre. She said that so far the centre has been able to assist more 4000 young people with more than 7000 legal matters.
