Liddy was jailed after being found guilty of sexually abusing young boys whom he coached at a surf lifesaving club between 1983 and 1986. Announcing his banishment, Chief Justice John Doyle said the legal profession could not be trusted if it continued to boast someone of Liddy’s ilk.
