Two new senior appointments at Corrs Chambers Westgarth have revealed the firm’s intention to build its international trade law practice.
Corrs attributed its expansion in the area to its recognition that businesses, whether in Australia or overseas, “need access to expert advice to understand and take advantage of domestic and international trade rules”, Reilly and Percival told Lawyers Weekly.
“Corrs’ international trade law specialists will advise and assist businesses on the opportunities and risks involved in international trade,” they added.
With backgrounds in international trade matters, Reilly and Percival have both assisted and advised on a range of trade related issues, including customs matters, safeguards applications and quarantine matters, in companies both in Australia and overseas.
Looking forward to building on Corrs’ international trade law practice, Reilly and Percival said they were attracted by Corrs’ recognition of the significance that “the forces of globalisation and the growth of international trade rules has for businesses developing export markets”.
They added that it was Corrs’ commitment to focus on and develop the international trade law area that made their decision to join the team a simple one. “We were looking forward to working with such a great team,” they said.
John Denton, CEO of Corrs, noted that the new appointments “showcased Corrs’ appeal and commitment to support and to provide clients with access to specialist areas of practice”.
