THE CHIEF JUSTICE of the Family Court, Diana Bryant, has outlined the future direction for the Court during the State of the Nation address at the 2004 Family Law Conference on the Gold Coast.
A new Court website providing the community with a range of new Court information was previewed, while Chief Justice Bryant offered an insight into the Court’s Children’s Cases Program.
The program, regarded as an evolutionary step in the process of litigation in Australia, is the culmination of many years of research by the Court. It is intended to offer shorter and earlier hearings, simplicity and flexibility and potential cost savings to clients.
The program is currently in its pilot stage at the Parramatta and Sydney registries in NSW and may become the model for children’s cases under the Government’s proposed less adversarial family law system.
