Maxwell QC appointed to Victorian Supreme Court
Chris Maxwell QC, a former Legal Aid Commissioner and former president of Liberty Victoria, has been appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria and president of the Court of Appeal,
Chris Maxwell QC, a former Legal Aid Commissioner and former president of Liberty Victoria, has been appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria and president of the Court of Appeal, both effective 16 July 2005.
Maxwell graduated in law in 1984 from the University of Melbourne. Previously, he graduated with first class honour in philosophy and history, also from Melbourne, and was the 1975 Rhodes Scholar for Victoria. He also holds a Bachelor of Philosophy from Oxford. Prior to joining the Victorian Bar, he was principal private secretary to Senator Gareth Evans, then Commonwealth Attorney-General.
