One for the diary -- distinguished diplomat and academic Sir Ivor Roberts will be sharing his thought on the development of modern diplomacy in Sydney in mid-January.
The newly revised text also examines new forms of diplomacy, including the importance of NGO's and the increasing use of secret envoys and commercial security firms.
Sir Roberts' diplomatic service has seen him work in the British High Commission, The British Embassy, and he also has considerable experience in international diplomacy gained during a stint as the UK's Ambassador to Yugoslavia during a tumultuous time in the Balkans in the mid 1990s, and as Ambassador to Ireland and Italy in subsequent years.
