The first female judge to be appointed to the International Court of Justice will deliver a free public lecture at Monash University Law Chambers in Melbourne on Tuesday 8 December.
Prior to joining the court, Higgins was a member of the UN Human Rights Committee and a well known author and scholar, having lectured at universities around the world.
She has also previously worked as a barrister and Queen's Counsel, specialising in public international law and petroleum law. She appeared before a number of international tribunals, including the European Court of Human Rights and the International Court of Justice where she acted as Britain's counsel during the Lockerbie case.
She will visit Monash University as a Holding Redlich Distinguished Visiting Fellow.
