Melbourne Law School examines the 'crisis-in the making' in international law
Melbourne Law School will play host to international legal expert Ramesh Thakur in December, who will be giving a seminar on the increasing gulf between law and legitimacy on the global arena.

The issue, which has been describe as a "serious crisis-in-the-making" will be the feature of a lecture on Monday, December 7, covering international law and international humanitarian law; sanctions; nuclear weapons; atrocity crimes and international interventions; international criminal justice; the Security Council; the UN-US relationship; and UN integrity in this context.

Thakur is a former Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, and is currently the Director of the renowned Balsillie School of International Affairs, and a Professor of Political Science at the University of Waterloo in Canada.
