THE TASMANIAN State Government needs to change its workers’ compensation laws to make them fairer for injured workers, according to lawyer’s groups.

The Law Council of Australia, the Law Society of Tasmania and the Australian Lawyers Alliance unveiled their ‘Fairer Compensation for Tasmanian Workers’ initiative in Hobart this week, and presented case studies of injured Tasmanian workers to prove their point.

The groups say state workers’ compensation legislation contains “unfair limitations” which have led to injured Tasmanians being denied compensation they deserve.
