Clayton Utz's Hong Kong arm, Haley & Co, has appointed construction and major projects consultant Ilan Freiman to its team.

Freiman was previously the director of legal in Asian construction at Sands China Limited/Venetian Macau Limited - a developer of multi-use integrated resorts in Macao, including The Venetian Macao, The Sands Macao and The Plaza Macao.

As director of legal, Freiman managed the legal requirements for all aspects of the company's development projects in Asia including the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

He has extensive experience advising on commercial aspects of major infrastructure and real estate development projects around Asia, covering the project development life-cycle.

Joining Clayton Utz on 1 April, Freiman's appointment coincided with the first anniversary of the firm's association with Haley & Co, which specialises in construction and major projects and international arbitration and dispute resolution.
