Gary Oliver will serve as the new chairman of the Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) Board.
"He has a track record working with and for Aboriginal people and communities," Moore said.
"We believe he will be an effective leader and we welcome him to the Board."
Oliver is of Kuku Yalangi decent from Cape York, Queensland and has spent 21 years in the public service in a variety of jobs including the Australian Army and the Australian Law Reform Commission.
In his current role as regional manager of Aboriginal Affairs NSW in the Department of Human Services, Oliver is the chairperson of the Two Ways Together (TWT) Regional Engagement Group.
