Kemp Strang is one step closer to finalising it governance structure after today announcing the appointment of Rob Wannan to the newly created position of Chairman.

Wannan is currently a consultant to Kemp Strang, which forms part of the Kennedy Strang Legal Group. He believes the new position will assist the evolution of the firm it better meeting its governance structure. "We can make decisions quickly, access the skills and expertise of a range of Partners, and ensure the firm continues to develop," he said in a statement released today.

Wannan joined the firm in 2001 following the merger of his previous firm Greaves Wannan & Williams into the group.

The restructure will also see partner John Coates move into the role of special counsel following his election to the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) executive board. He is also deputy chairman of David Jones and vice-president of the International Council of Arbitration for Sport.
