Life, health and wellbeing insurer AIA Australia has appointed a new general counsel, who brings more than 20 years of experience to the role.
After leading a team of 15 as the MLC Life Insurance general counsel and regulatory affairs executive lead, Grant Jones has joined AIA Australia as its new general counsel.
Jones has more than 20 years of experience in legal practice and financial services, including over eight years at MLC and almost a decade at NAB previously, where he was the head of legal for NAB Wealth.
AIA Australia CEO Damien Mu said he was thrilled to welcome Jones to his new role.
“Grant’s extensive experience in the financial services industry, including his pivotal work in the customer and regulatory spaces, make him an important new member of the AIA Australia executive team,” he said.
“With his demonstrated leadership skills and his recognition of ‘doing the right thing, in the right way’, I am confident that he will provide invaluable support and guidance as we continue working towards our vision for Australia to be the healthiest and best protected nation in the world.”
Speaking about his new appointment, Jones said he was excited to help drive meaningful change for AIA Australia’s customers, as well as the broader life and health insurance industries.
“The opportunity to join AIA Australia and make a difference was compelling, and I am happy to be part of the team. While the life and health insurance industries continue to evolve significantly, what doesn’t change is the important role we play in ensuring that Australians have certainty and peace of mind for the future,” he said.
“It’s been great to kick off 2025 in this new role and hit the ground running. I feel energised by the passion from the AIA Australia family, who work tirelessly to make a positive difference and help Australians lead healthier, longer, better lives.”
