Theo Bouris, a financial products and financial services lawyer, has joined Kemp Strang as a partner. The firm said Bouris, formerly of Henry Davis York, has specialised in retail and wholesale investment products, insurance, product disclosure, distribution, advertising, financial planning, licensing and anti-money laundering.

 
 

Professor Robin Creyke has been re-appointed for a further three years as a part-time member of the Administrative Review Council, which advises the government on the Commonwealth administrative law system. Professor Creyke, who has been a member of the Council since 1999, is a law professor at the Australian National University where she teaches public, administrative and constitutional law.

Mallesons Stephen Jaques has announced the appointment of China M&A and corporate lawyer Stuart Valentine as a partner of its China practice. Valentine joins Mallesons from the Hong Kong office of Clifford Chance where he has been since 1988. His experience includes advising clients on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and regulatory issues relevant to foreign businesses in China.

Paul Meadows, a partner at Allens Arthur Robinson since 1989, has been appointed a non-executive senior advisor with UBS Investment Bank. Meadows will act as a consultant to the investment banking division, focusing on the firm’s Melbourne-based clients
