Mellor Olsson appointed leading estate planning, asset protection and commercial law partner Phil McGovern, effectively establishing a cutting-edge succession planning team, as the firm aims for a one-stop shop for succession planning expertise. McGovern has more than 25 years experience, and is among a small group of South Australian lawyers who combines commercial and estate planning experience. He said the move to Mellor Olsson from another established SA firm is an ideal fit for his set of skills and experience and he is looking forward to continuing his relationship with past and present clients. “At the moment we’re seeing the greatest transfer of wealth that’s ever occurred in our society. People have more assets than ever before and they need to know how to pass those assets down to the next generation and how to best protect those assets.” The appointment takes the total number of personnel at Mellor Olsson to 75. Managing Partner Andrew Goode said: “We’re delighted to have [McGovern] join our succession planning team which is now a very important part of our business, and fits in well with our commercial focus on serving South Australian businesses.”
