King & Wood Mallesons and Freehills have advised on the sale of the Bank of Cyprus Australia to Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.

Deal: Sale of Bank of Cyprus Australia to Bendigo and Adelaide Bank

Area: Corporate

Value: Approx $130 million

Key players: Joe Muraca led the KWM team, with support from senior associate Kate Johnson and solicitor Matt Bernardo. Partner Mark Weber and senior associate Kylie Castrissios also advised on IT and IP-related issues. The Freehills team was led by partner Rebecca Maslen-Stannage working with solicitor Kate Hemphill, along with partner Philippa Stone working with senior associate Allon Ledder and solicitor Lucy Hall.

Deal significance: Bank of Cyprus is the leading Cypriot bank and financial services group. Their Australian operations include 14 branches throughout the country. Bank of Cyprus Australia will operate as a stand-alone entity.
