In August 2010, the Federal Government announced Freehills consultant Kathleen Farrell as the new president of the Takeovers Panel. Movers & Shakers: Kathleen Farrell, Takeovers Panel
Farrell was a member of the Panel for a decade before her elevation to president, which marks the first time a practising lawyer has been appointed to the role.
She has had a long-standing association with Freehills and was one of the first female partners to be appointed by the firm in 1984. Farrell stepped down from the partnership in 2000 but has continued to work for the firm as a consultant.
