After almost 30 years, Peter Gordon left Slater & Gordon in late 2009. But it's this year that Gordon has truly made his mark on the legal sector via his new firm, Gordon Legal. Movers & Shakers: Peter Gordon, Gordon Legal
Gordon and around six lawyers from his former firm negotiated a settlement pro bono on behalf of 45 surviving thalidomide victims in Australia and New Zealand allowing for an annual $3 million payment to be shared amongst the victims, which could last for another 20 years.
Gordon notes that he never intended to practise law again after leaving Slater & Gordon but "quickly realised it was in my blood". He's working with a large number of people who can't afford representation and notes that when he met Ken Youdale, the father of a thalidomide victim, he knew he had to "remain in the game".
