Greens candidate for Fremantle, Kate Davis

Kate Davis has been a member of The Greens for more than half her life, which is quite a feat for the 28 year-old Greens candidate for Fremantle.

Joining The Greens at 13, Davis has channelled her passion for social justice issues into her work as a lawyer. She runs the Women's Law Centre in Perth, chairs the Women's Council for Domestic and Family Violence Services and has been instrumental in establishing outreach legal clinics for local Aboriginal women in the remote Fitzroy Crossing area of the Kimberleys.

"The work I do is incredibly rewarding," she said. Knowing that she stands very little chance of winning the seat, Davis is concentrating on raising the profile of The Greens, and helping the party attract votes in the Senate.

"This is a really important election for The Greens, as we could hold the balance of power in the Senate after the election," she said. "We are the only party offering real solution on issues like climate change."
