National law firm Moray & Agnew has added a new partner in its corporate and commercial practice – making this the third lateral partner appointment since the beginning of the year.
Moray & Agnew has appointed partner Sotheary Bryant to its corporate and commercial practice in Melbourne.
With more than 20 years of legal experience, Bryant was most recently the head of commercial at FCW Lawyers and had previously been a principal lawyer at BigLaw firm Macpherson Kelley.
Bryant represents organisations of all sizes and industries in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters. She’s a recognised expert in the automotive industry and is known for her ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and deliver tailored legal solutions that drive commercial success, according to the firm.
“I am thrilled to join Moray & Agnew and its highly regarded corporate and commercial team, which is a good fit for my clients and my practice. Working in a full-service firm alongside lawyers who enjoy supporting clients to succeed as much as I do is exciting and offers the ideal environment to better service businesses and enhance my profile in automotive as a trusted adviser,” Bryant said.
“I look forward to contributing to the firm’s commitment to providing innovative, strategic solutions to our clients.”
The news follows the firm’s appointment of a property partner in Melbourne last month, a former KPMG director as a partner in mid-January, its elevation of 17 lawyers to more senior roles at the start of January, and the appointment of a new medical negligence partner at the end of 2024.
Speaking about the new appointment, Melbourne managing partner Bill Papastergiadis OAM said that Bryant “brings a high level of enthusiasm and energy to our firm that will assist in pushing our corporate and commercial practice to the next level”.
“Her extensive experience and proven track record in corporate and commercial law, particularly in the automotive sector, will be invaluable in enhancing the legal services we provide to our clients,” he said.
Bryant joins partners Phillip Grundy and John Wei in Moray & Agnew’s growing Victorian practice.
“Sotheary is a dynamic corporate and commercial lawyer who has established a strong profile in the automotive industry,” Grundy said.
“Her capabilities with franchising and the Australian Consumer Law will be invaluable to clients and provides an excellent opportunity to continue the growth of the corporate and commercial practice. It is a very exciting time.”
