Peter & Kim, a specialist arbitration firm with offices in Geneva, Zurich, Sydney, Seoul and Singapore, has added Cameron Sim as a new partner.

Sim joins from Debevoise & Plimpton, an international law firm headquartered in New York. He was at the firm for more than nine years, most recently as a counsel in Hong Kong. He will be based in the firm’s Sydney office and will also be a key contact in the Singapore office, according to the firm.

Sim brings extensive global experience as counsel for corporates and states in commercial and investment arbitrations across a range of industries, including banking and finance, energy, insurance, pharmaceuticals, private equity, retail, and telecommunications. He has spent his career based in both London and Hong Kong, and is admitted in Australia, England and Wales, Hong Kong, and New York, and is a registered foreign lawyer in the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC).

He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, as well as a member of the Proceedings Committee of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC).

“The Asia-Pacific region is playing an increasingly significant role in international arbitration, which has become a highly specialised area. I am delighted to join Peter & Kim as I reposition myself within the region to reflect the evolving dispute resolution landscape,” Sim said.

“I look forward to working closely with the Sydney and Singapore teams, and collaborating with the broader global team, to continue the firm’s rapid growth and success.”

Commenting on the new appointment, Sydney-based partner James Morrison said that the firm is “extremely excited and fortunate” to have Sim join.

“He is an international arbitration polymath; a quad-qualified lawyer who has worked in major law firms around the world on some of the most complex cases, and is a leading expert on emergency arbitration. We are looking forward to working with Cameron to show clients, particularly in Australia, that Peter & Kim is the market leader in specialised international arbitration services and can provide a value proposition with the deepest talent to advocate their cases forcefully,” he said.

“Cameron’s move aligns closely with Peter & Kim’s considered growth strategy and other exciting developments in Australia that we will announce soon.”
