Australian mid-tier law firm HopgoodGanim has added a new partner in Perth, who joins with a special counsel from global law firm HFW.
HopgoodGanim Lawyers has appointed a new energy transition partner in Perth, who joins from HFW, and brings with her a special counsel.
Formerly a partner at HFW, Jo Garland brings more than two decades of legal experience to the firm, with expertise in energy and projects, specifically renewables, decarbonisation, and climate change.
She has worked with major players across renewables, heavy industry, utilities, and oil and gas, advising on some of the largest renewables projects, industrial decarbonisation initiatives, and emissions trading schemes, both in Australia and internationally.
Garland will be working in partnership with HopgoodGanim’s resources and energy, environment, and native title and cultural heritage practices based in Perth and Brisbane.
Joining Garland at HopgoodGanim is special counsel Jessica Marshall, who has more than 12 years of legal experience; 11 of those spent at HFW.
This news comes after the firm added a team of two from BigLaw firm Holding Redlich last month, as well as the addition of a team of eight from national Corrs Chambers Westgarth in February.
Speaking about the appointments, managing partner Luke Mountford said the new additions would strengthen the firm’s capability in the energy, renewables, and mining sector.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jo to our resources and energy practice in Perth. She is a leading authority in energy transition law, and her appointment will significantly enhance our ability to support clients in Western Australia and beyond,” he said.
“The addition of Jo and Jessica to HopgoodGanim further demonstrates our commitment to delivering exceptional legal services to clients in the energy sector and will further allow us to provide specialised advice to those undertaking complex renewables and decarbonisation projects.”
