National BigLaw firm Mills Oakley has hired two partners to boost its financial services and property practices, who join from EY and K&L Gates.
Mills Oakley has added two new partners to its ranks: Tania Sibree and Randall Gerkens, who are both based in the firm’s Melbourne office.
Sibree joins the firm from EY and brings more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, having worked across multiple jurisdictions, including the UK and the Asia-Pacific region. Her primary focus is on funds management, particularly across a diverse range of asset classes, as well as prudential regulation and the implementation of prudential standards.
Gerkens joins the firm from K&L Gates and brings a wealth of experience in commercial property transactions, commercial, industrial, residential and infrastructure development and construction projects to Mills Oakley’s national property team. He has led major transactions, including the largest commercial office lease pre-commitment/redevelopment and the largest one-line corporate real estate transaction in the country, as well as the development and divestment of one of Melbourne’s largest industrial/logistics development sites.
This news comes after the poaching of a former MinterEllison partner and his Adelaide-based insurance team in February, as well as the addition of a disputes and insolvency practitioner to its partnership in December (which brought the firm’s partner ranks to 170 nationwide).
Mills Oakley chief executive officer John Nerurker said he was thrilled to have both Sibree and Gerkens join the partnership.
“The appointments of Tania and Randall are strategic additions to the Mills Oakley partnership as the firm continues to grow and strengthen its national presence,” he said.
“Their complementary skill sets in financial services and property are part of the firm’s broader focus on delivering the best legal services to clients across Australia.”
