Mandi Jacobson has joined Thomson Geer’s partnership, having most recently served at BigLaw rival Hogan Lovells, which exited the Australian market in September last year.

She will be based in the firm’s Sydney office.

Jacobsons’ team, special counsel Danielle Kuti and associate Bonnie Liu, have also joined the firm from Hogan Lovells.

She acts, Thomson Geer said in a statement, for life sciences clients, doing both advisory and contentious work, including the registration of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, clinical trials, recalls and product liability, and has broader regulatory experience across areas such as food, cosmetics, electrical products, automobiles and defence products as well as significant Australian Consumer Law expertise.

The news follows Thomson Geer’s taking of a construction partner and a financial services regulatory partner and their teams, all from global practice Clyde & Co, late last year.

It also follows the firm’s appointment of a technology and cyber team from national rival HopgoodGanim, as reported earlier this week, its taking of an employment team in Melbourne from KPMG Law in October, as well as the firm’s promotion of 50 professionals in early July and its merger with Tottle Partners in Perth in May.

Speaking about the hires, Thomson Geer chief executive partner Adrian Tembel said: “One of our priorities is to keep building high-quality capability for inbound investment into Australia, and Mandi’s skills complement that strategy in the regulatory and life sciences space.”
