Formerly a special counsel at McCabes Lawyers, Barnaby Austin has joined Carter Newell as a partner.

Austin has extensive experience advising clients in numerous sectors regarding day-to-day legal employment matters, conducting workplace investigations, and supporting clients on complex employment issues in corporate transactions.

He is also well versed in working with private and government clients, supporting and advising on their workforce management and successfully resolving employment-related disputes.

This follows the news from last month that the firm has promoted four, including one to the partnership.

Carter Newell CEO Marc Walker said the new appointment reinforces the workplace advisory team located across Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.

“Our employment and workplace advisory expertise is valuable to many of our corporate clients, who span industries from construction to insurance, mining, energy and resources and beyond,” he said.

“Having earned a strong reputation, clients trust our team’s comprehensive advice to help safeguard their businesses against workplace risks – allowing them to stay focused on their core commercial objectives. Carter Newell’s partnership and I look forward to welcoming Barnaby to the team and further strengthening our specialist support for our clients.”

Carter Newell chair of partners Paul Hopkins said: “Having Barnaby join us ensures we can continue to deliver excellent client service and solutions in this specialist practice area.”
