Recently, Chamberlains expanded its presence in Queensland by acquiring Handz Law, a boutique law firm in Brisbane that specialises in property, conveyancing, and corporate and commercial law.

The national law firm has described this decision as a “strategic move” aimed at furthering the firm’s “growth and commitment to providing exceptional legal services across the region”.

As part of this acquisition, Chamberlains has acquired Handz’s office located in Brisbane, with the firm indicating that this office will function as “a hub for clients in Brisbane and the surrounding areas”.

The move has enabled the national law firm to broaden its presence to a total of six offices across the country – three within Greater Sydney, one in Canberra, one in Newcastle, and now one in Brisbane.

In addition to absorbing its office, Chamberlains has appointed four lawyers from Handz, including Calvin Young, the founder and principal of the firm, who now serves as director of the Brisbane office.

Sieng Kong will also serve as director, Domenic Gallo has joined as special counsel, and Candice Wang will take on the roles of conveyancer and paralegal.

Through these appointments, Chamberlains expressed how it has bolstered its capabilities and provided advice on various matters, including property acquisitions, commercial transactions, cross-border transactions, corporate advisory, joint ventures, and corporate litigation.

Stipe Vuleta, the managing director of Chamberlains, said the move “marks a new beginning” for the firm and extends a warm welcome to the new team members joining from Handz Law.

Vuleta said: “Expanding these practice areas gives us the opportunity to better serve our clients and to build stronger relationships within the community. We look forward to working with our new team members from Handz Law and to continue our tradition of excellence in legal services across the nation.”

Chamberlains told Lawyers Weekly that this acquisition aligns with their long-term goals of expanding their national presence, focusing on developing its smaller offices, such as those in Brisbane and Newcastle.
